CRITERIA

The following are requirements for any web sites to be evaluated or presented an award from Mackey Web Design. Please consider everything carefully prior to submitting application.
  • You will not be eligible to win the Advanced Web Design Award if:
    • Your site presents, promotes or supports: adult material, pornography, racism, sexism, child abuse and illegal activities.
    • You are 13 years old or under.
    • You have Under Construction Signs on your site.
    • You do not provide an area on your site for the awards won.
    • Your site has less than 10 pages of content.
    • Your site has broken links and missing graphics within the site.
    • Your site has advertising banners or advertising pop up windows.


    The site submitted must have an English or french version.

CRITERIA: - Personal and commercial web sites are welcome!

What your site will be judged on:

  • The number of errors! Does your site has:
    • 404 error pages?
    • Broken links?
    • Missing images?
    • Spelling mistakes?
    • Grammar Errors?
    • Script errors that interfere with viewing of site?
    • Form processing errors?
    • Obvious errors in table and CSS coding?

     

  • Your site Organization
    • Does everything on your site have a clear purpose?
    • Can users easily find what they're looking for?
    • Is the site easy to navigate. Does it has a logical navigation that is not confusing to the user.
    • How easy is the overall use of your site: Do links (graphical and text) make sense?
    • Is there more than one "click" to get to the main page from a given page.
  • Download Time

    • How long does it take for your site to download on a 56k modem? Does it take more than 20 seconds?

 
  • Overall Look and feel of your site:

    • Is your layout pleasing to the eye? Does it flow nicely?
    • Does the site have a sense of balance? Does it feel crowded? Is there too little space between text and images?
    • Will people be drawn to your website, will they want to stay there, and to return? How original is your web site? How interesting is the content?
    • How wise is the choice of your colors? Are you blinding people with colors that are too bright? Or text that is not easily read?
    • If you use sound, can the viewers turn off the sound?
    • Do all pages have a uniform look (backgrounds, font types)?
    • Do the graphics and animation look somewhat professional?
    • Does your site look good in various resolutions, and Browsers?
    • If frames are used, are they used responsibly?
    • If pop up windows are used, are they used responsibly?

     

  • Miscellaneous:

    • If someone else's images, files or other copyrighted material are used, is proper credit given to them?
    • Does the site show evidence of overall effort?
    • In the application form, you will be asked for the password; it's "Mackey Web Design".
    • What is our personal feeling about your site).
