| Overall
Look and feel
of your site:
- Think carefully about your
layout to make it pleasing to the eye.
Does it flow nicely?
- The site must have a sense
of balance. Does it feel crowded? Is there
too little space between text and images?
- Content and originality
are extremely important. Will people want
to stay on your site, and return?
- Use dark text on light background.
- Choose colors that go well
together.
- Don't blind people with
colors that are too bright.
- Save bright colors for areas
that you want to attract attention to.
- Sound, if used has to be
able to be turned off by the viewers if
they wish.
- All pages must have a uniform
look (backgrounds, font types).
- Graphics and animation
have to look somewhat professional; no
cheesy clipart.
- Make sure your site looks
good in various resolutions, and Browsers.
- Check for horizontal scrollbars!
- Use frames responsibly.
- Same for pop up windows
and banners!
Organization
- Make sure everything on your site has
a clear purpose.
- Users have to be able to
easily find what they're looking for.
- Site has to be easy to navigate, with
a logic navigation that is not confusing
to the user.
- Overall ease of use: links(graphical
and text) have to make sense.
- One "click" to get to the
main page from each page.

Download Time
- How long does it take for your site
to download on a 56k modem? If it takes
too long, more than 20 seconds, you might
want to:
- Optimize your images.
- See if everything on your page is really
needed.
