Is Your eCommerce Website Losing You Money?

Is Your eCommerce website losing you money?

In the highly-competitive, 24/7 world of eCommerce websites, small discrepancies can be the difference between financial success, and crippling failure. It’s important to be aware of what your customers expect in an eCommerce website – and what will prompt them to abandon your online store, possibly forever.

A recent CWCS report reveals some frightening facts: For instance, 57% of potential customers will leave a webpage if it takes more than three seconds to load – and 80% of them will never return to your eCommerce website.

In addition to lightning-fast loading speeds, your potential clients expect a simple, streamlined experience that is tailored to a variety of platforms; a whopping 82% of users will NOT recommend a business if they’ve had a bad mobile experience. Of those who leave an e-commerce site without making a purchase, 43% blame confusing navigation or excessive security.

Eliminate hidden fees. This is the number one factor that drives customers to abandon a shopping cart, with 56% citing unexpected costs as the primary reason for not completing their purchase.

Reduce the number of steps required to make a purchase. Every click is an opportunity to abandon the shopping cart — and 26% of users who do so leave when they discover that registration is required.

On the other hand, 80% of users feel safer, and are more likely to make a purchase, when they see a trusted card logo.

The thing that matters the most to your customers, perhaps unsurprisingly, is payment security. Emphasize how you will protect their personal and financial information. Provide them with a clean, simple interface. Offer a range of trusted payment methods, with widely-recognized logos clearly visible and plainly displayed.

  1. I suspect we are guilty of a few of these as our web orders are not as many as we’d like. Could you possibly take a look at our online store and offer some help/advice?
